As technology advances, our recorded past is getting harder to preserve. The local history department in the Tarentum branch library has the hardware and software needed to transfer photographs, slides, audio cassette tapes and VHS tapes to newer formats.
To date, only library materials have been updated to newer formats. In the near future, library patrons will be able to take advantage of this digitization technology for their own materials.
